HOME Manchester Wedding, Pink and red fun, modern, designer flowers

City Wedding at HOME Manchester - Puren & Tom, July 2024

As a Manchester florist I'm very familiar with most wedding venues in the city centre. I was most surprised to find out that HOME, a cinema, exhibition gallery and bar based in the middle of Manchester city centre do weddings!

I've been to HOME many times to see movies and to the interesting art exhibitions they have on throughout the year. I've also been just to catch up with friends for drinks. It's one of my favourite venues, located just across the road from the old Hacienda site on Tony Wilson Place. It's an area that's rich in cultural heritage if you're a music fan.

The weddings take place upstairs in the venue and is available as an events space all year round. It has a bar and eatery area with a large room that has huge glass windows.

Puren & Tom came for a consultation in 2023 and had a clear vision of how they wanted to style the room for their ceremony and reception. They wanted to create their own alter with an art deco style backdrop decorated with fresh flowers and disco balls. At first the colour scheme of the flowers was entirely different. The original idea was to go for a mix of colourful and pastel colours including, pinks, yellows, whites and blues. The colour scheme was changed a couple of months before the wedding and I'm so glad they decided to switch it up. I think the choice to change to this monochromatic colour way of red and pink was a very wise move.

The colour scheme worked so well with the venue space and I couldn't imagine it any other way. The different hues for each of the backdrop panels merged seamlessly with the colours in the floral arrangements. Even the colour of buildings you can see outside seemed to blend well with our interior.

We custom made this backdrop especially for Puren & Tom based on their height measurements. They were originally going to have it made by a relative but we decided we would construct it ourselves as we had one to make for another wedding a month later anyway.

For the alter flowers we made 2 large floor standing vase arrangements to be placed on either side of the backdrop panels. We used a mixture of red hues and tones including hot Pink Gladioli's, Rambla Anthuriums, Spider Gerbera's, Red Scabiosa, Pink Roses and Red Amaranthus.

After the ceremony the floor standing arrangements were then lifted and placed on pedestals for the reception. A top table was brought in and this was then placed in front of the backdrop.

Aside from the venue flowers, we also made a bridal bouquet, groom's buttonhole and guest buttonholes.

Puren's bridal bouquet was small and stylised. We paired large tropical Anthurium's with long pink Gladioli's, reversed flexed roses and fluffy Spider Gerbera's. The end result was a cohesive and interesting mix of forms and textures.

For Tom we created a buttonhole with a Scabiosa Scoop head in a cherry colour with trailing Red Amaranthus, a Spray Rose head and Lisianthus.

I was so pleased when I saw the photos. The flowers matched his tie perfectly!

We also made some guest buttonholes using Spray Roses and Lisianthus. I love this photo of the guys trying to get their buttonholes on.

I really enjoyed this wedding and loved that we got to transform the space in one of my favourite Manchester venues. I hope to see this space being used more frequently for wedding as I would love to come back! Clarissa from Grace in Spring did an amazing job as a wedding planner and every element brought the styling together so nicely. The banner from Daydreamer was also a great addition to our back drop and really helped to make it stand out.
